Salupongan International facilitates solidarity exchanges throughout the year in which participants learn about the cultural, socio-economic and political reality of our partner indigenous and peasant communities in the marginalized hinterlands of Southern Mindanao (Region XI) and other nearby regions. Through these solidarity exchanges both global participants and local communities share knowledge, skills and resources for the benefit and development of their respective communities.
Experience the everyday lives of the Lumad (indigenous) students and teachers at their community schools. Live with the Lumad families, listen to their stories, farm their ancestral lands and learn first hand about their culture, struggle and legacy.
Bear witness to the beauty of the land and gain an understanding of the reality behind the lives of those who till it. Integrate with peasant farming communities, learn about their sustainable agricultural practices and the current situation they face in order to maintain their livelihood.
As of 2016, SI has hosted over 60 international solidarity exchange participants from across the world and 40 local solidarity exchange participants from the Philippines.
We invite you to join us, share your skills and learn first hand directly from our community partners. If you are interested in participating or want to learn more about our Solidarity Exchanges please fill out the form below and we will respond at our earliest convenience. Thank you.
